Some rules may have changed, yet it is essential to show courtesy and manners. Etiquette experts work hard to create new dining guides with rules for the new generation. These are mixed with time-weathered trends and techniques still observed and in need.

Many up-and-comers may not have dealt with the more refined dining experiences. There are many techniques and standards of etiquette that have not been passed on through the ages, especially in the Americas, because of a mobile society where one can change their station in life more easily through hard work.

The Basics of Table Manners

  1. Keep your elbows off the table
  2. Don’t talk with your mouth full
  3. Chew with your mouth closed
  4. Your napkin does not go tucked into your shirt

Once you’ve remembered those concepts, let’s move on to more fine-tuning of your mannerisms.

Dining 101

We should practice this at all times, not just during formal events. You want to make these a habit.
