From tears of despair to an uplifting journey

Not many years ago, my life was in shambles. My sons were in middle school, I was working and had just applied to graduate school. My wife decided to take a hiatus during the summers and stay a couple of hours away, trying to be a river rafting guide.

I saw the writing on the wall, had a talk with my sons, and filed for divorce. We couldn’t keep going this way. Fortunately, my friends and family rallied around me and helped us clean our home properly and try and adjust to the new normal. They provided as much support as they could.

Friendship & Family

It’s refreshing to know you can just talk to people, have them listen while you unburden yourself, and expect nothing in return -especially advice. I found it helps just talking about it.

Social Media

Through a few Facebook interactions, I connected with a few friends and colleagues. One was a single mother, raising her nearly grown son. She invited us to go canoeing with them on the lake one weekend.

We arrived early Saturday and made a day of it, swimming in the lake and canoeing in the warm summer waters. It was a great day. We made it back to their house and decided to all go to Shoney’s for a late lunch… and made our way…
